Up Coming Church Events
Lent Prayer Guide and Soup Supper and Study
During the season of Lent, you are invited to join us in 40 days of prayer for the life of the church body, corporately and individually. This will be a part of our Lenten remembrances that include weekly soup supper and study times on Wednesday evenings. I am inviting and calling the church to a time of prayer for the renewal and transformation of our church. That will not come about without God’s leading and our submitting to His call and His plan for us. Listed in this brochure is a list of prayer topics to help guide us for each day of the week. These are just helps and guides but will focus our prayers for the life of the church and for you and your family too. Our Wednesday soup suppers and study times will be a time to gather around a table and then to share in the Word of God by looking at, “If Christians Were Really Christian” together as we journey through Lent. Psalm 139:23-24 says, “Search me God and know my heart, test me and know my thoughts, see if there is any wrong way in me and lead me in the way of everlasting.”

Relief Effort Ideas
There is actually quite a bit people can do during this time when many feel helpless. Namely, 3 things:
1-Continue to donate - this truly is the BEST and most effective way to help right now - www.weekofcompassion.org - 100% goes to Haiti relief efforts - remind folks that WoC is part of the largest global alliance of Christian humanitarian agencies in the world, ACT Alliance (thus, our capacity on the ground is vast and has stood the test of time) as well as CWS. We will b having an opportunity for giving this Sunday.
2-Assemble and send emergency kits -- there is an URGENT need for more CWS hygiene and baby kits -- our ecumenical warehouse in New Windsor, MD has been emptied already -- please go to http://www.churchworldservice.org/site/PageServer?pagename=how_vol_kits for a list of items needed for the kits - I know how often people want to do something "hands on" in a time like this - this is a GREAT and truly helpful way to do so.
3-Pray, pray, pray for all those affected by this disaster in Haiti and for those trying to help them.
Pastor Darren's BLOG
We have an opportunity to open up a new way of communicating and dialogue via what is called a BLOG. For those who are not familiar with blogs, blog is short for Web Log and they are a way in which interested parties can have an online discussion dealing with various topics. As I post different things, you will have an opportunity to respond and share your thoughts with others too. This type of community will allow people to be a part who are not in the area and can be participated in when there is time instead of a predetermined time and place. The address for my blog is: http://hamptonpastor.wordpress.com. Stop by and check it out, leave a comment or thought, and share it with others. I'm looking forard to hearing from you soon. I hope that this will be an effective tool that will help us to grow in our faith and in the church.
